Good evening at "Buon Giorno!"

Following the line ups of the boyfriend and I's "food bucket list," we recently dined at one of the famous restaurants in Tagaytay which is Buon Giorno! Caffe and Bistro. "Good morning" when translated in English but their dishes are not limited to breakfast meals. They have a wide variety of salads, pastas and pizzas per se. It is located at The Cliffhouse along Aguinaldo Avenue, with other food concessionaire such as Cafe Breton, Fruits in Ice Cream, and Fire Lake Grill among others. The criteria that made Buon Giorno! famous in addition to the variety and quality of food it offers is the location - it is overlooking Taal Lake. Let's talk about these two further.

We ordered an appetizer, a pasta, a main course (which included a salad) and a dessert and our verdict are as follows:

Croquettes with Mozarella
Verdict: It's almost the same with California Pizza Kitchen's Fried Mozarella except that the croquettes have rice which made it a bit heavy for a starter. I think it is one of the lacking description in their menu. Also, the center is very much underestimated than the enormity of the croquettes. I wish it had more cheese!

Croquettes with Mozarella

Penne All' Arrabiata
Verdict: It's not so much spicy than the description indicated but it is appealing to the taste buds. I also loved the sourness of the sauce that I used it as a spread in the complimentary bread initially given.

Penne All' Arrabiata
Prime Rib Package (with Buon Giorno's Special Salad)
Verdict (for the salad): Initially, I tasted just the sauce and thought it was weird but eating the whole thing made me appreciate the dish all the more. The greens go well with the grapes, oranges and their well-reserved sauce. I'm not a vegetable salad person but I chowed this down pretty well.

Buon Giorno's Special Salad
Verdict (for the prime rib): Remember when I said that the boyfriend and I had a steak hunting escapade last year? Well, I am very much happy to announce that this is the newest addition, now placing second  (Meatplus Cafe at Subic still is our first placer) in our list! It was cooked tenderly, the sauce does not over power the taste of the steak and the side dishes - potato wedges, baked and buttered carrots and celery slices are just too perfect. So yes, can you guess the rating? =)

Sinfully delicious!
Molten Chocolate Cake
Rating: From a delectable appetizer, pasta and main course comes a disappointing dessert. The cake seems like that of an instant pancake mix and the molten chocolate in the center does not taste like one. The only thing I enjoyed about the dish is the vanilla ice cream and the drizzled chocolate syrup on top. But I'm saving my judgement for all the other desserts, maybe next time I'll try something else. It looks beautiful and appealing in my shot though. ;)

Physically appealing but disappointing tasting molten cake.
We were not able to take note of the exact price per item but as far as I can remember, all in all it costed us not more than P2000.00, not bad for a fine dining and the quantity which is good for sharing. Buon Giorno! offers seats outside which can provide you a really good view while eating but as suggested by the boyfriend, we agreed to stay inside since it is too windy and we might not be able to enjoy the hotness and freshness of our food. Also, they have a terrace where guests can take a picture before or after eating so it's definitely not a rush.

Overlooking Taal Lake.
In general, I'll give this restaurant a 4 over 5 rating. Some of their offer needs improvement but nevertheless, we are considering to go back there the next time we are in Tagaytay.
