Amid My Silent Reverie

Are you looking for a place to go to this coming long weekend? I've got a perfect suggestion for you! We all know Tagaytay for the following iconic tourist spots: Picnic Grove, People's Park in the Sky, Bag of Beans and most importantly, Taal volcano. But in our moment of stereotyping and thinking that there is no other place we can go to in the area, the fiancè and I happened to discover these little gems in the heart of Tagaytay. So, get your pens ready and take note of these!

Admittedly, if I have a choice, I am not fond of going to Festival Supermall at Alabang. I'd rather go to Alabang Town Center because it has a much beautiful ambiance, for me, rather than the former. But since the boyfriend and I are very fortunate to get free Deal Grocer  vouchers from my tita, our choice of restaurant is Mati's Meat and Bread which is   located at River Park - a relatively new and one of the four expansion project of Festival Supermall to adhere to present-day mall operations. Mati's Meat and Bread is a two-storey building restaurant. The first floor is high ceiling which I think helped in the good ventilation of the place. I did not smell of steak or pasta upon going out. I just noticed though that they have few servers. During our stay I only saw two, one of which I think is the branch manager or shift supervisor. Following the line ups of the boyfriend and I's "food bucket list," we recently dined at one of the famous restaurants in Tagaytay which is  Buon Giorno! Caffe and Bistro. " Good morning" when translated in English but their dishes are not limited to breakfast meals. They have a wide variety of salads, pastas and pizzas per se. It is located at The Cliffhouse along Aguinaldo Avenue, with other food concessionaire such as Cafe Breton, Fruits in Ice Cream, and  Fire Lake Grill among others. The criteria that made Buon Giorno! famous in addition to the variety and quality of food it offers is the location - it is overlooking Taal Lake. Let's talk about these two further. While other couples fulfill their travel bucket list, the boyfriend and I are taking the simple and attainable things first that is, trying out good food from different restaurants which we have also read on social media sites. For yesterday's "Saturdate," we tried Project Pie. The ambiance is similar to Yellow Cab and Army Navy that the boyfriend thought it was another sister company but reading through their site, I discovered it is an internationally owned company franchised here in the Philippines. To set the expectation, it is not like the salad bar in Wendy's wherein you get to assemble your food on your own but rather, you instruct the artisan on what ingredients you wanted for your pizza. Looking at their menu, you can choose on two options (1) choose a number - where you get to pick from their pre-set pizzas or (2) build your own - where you get to pick the ingredients you want from their variety of toppings. Craving for authentic Chinese dishes but is on a tight budget? No need to worry, there is a place that can answer that concern and satisfy those demanding palate. Where else? You got that right – Binondo. The boyfriend and I love to eat. No wonder we are gaining all these unnecessary fats. We are also one of the living proofs that any food, when shared with the one you love, becomes really delicious. So one fine day we decided to go to Binondo and try some of the specialties in famous restaurants located in the area that we found out from previous blogs. First stop: Lord Stow's Bakery Name of Food: Egg Tart Price: PhP 42.00 (2 pcs) Rating (1 lowest, 5 highest): 4 Verdict: It tastes like Egg Pie but the consistency is much smoother and of course the crust is thinner since it is a tart. Moreover, the sweetness is just right.

Joining the list of my "places to be" in the North Luzon area just the past two weekends is Subic. It is roughly 3 hours away from the Metro (plus two if you're traveling past the rush hour which is 7PM, just like what we did Thursday night). We went there through a private vehicle because we thought that it would be an easier and much accessible mode of transportation to the locations we want to visit in the area. I should just warn you, Subic is very strict on their traffic regulations. There are many "Stop" signs everywhere, where you should cease for 3-5 seconds regardless if there are pedestrians or vehicles that will cross. Furthermore, "first stop, first to go" on intersections is also being observed. The hotel we chose is Subic Park Hotel.
