"Honeymooners" in Bohol

What is the most sought after event after the wedding? Yes, a no-brainer, the honeymoon! We were fortunate because initially, we don't have any plans for this. Or at the very least, we were only thinking of taking an overnight stay in Batangas because we can't afford to go out of town. How in the world can we think of going to Bohol or Palawan when we can't even find a way to make the ends meet just to pay for our wedding? But I guess that's the magic of it. You get unexpected gifts from the people close to you and then you are instantly in for a sweet escape. Salamat po ng marami!

We love Bohol!
Bohol is a one hour plane ride away from Manila. I thought we were going to experience delays in our flight but thankfully there weren't any. Good impression for first time fliers of AirAsia. šŸ˜‰ We arrived Friday (literally the day after the wedding) mid-afternoon so we allotted the rest of the day and couch potato-ing at the hotel. We stayed at Bohol South Beach Hotel located in Panglao. It is similar to a boutique or bed and breakfast which is only three-story high. The place has its own infinity pool, restaurant and bar. It is very peaceful and private. It was so quiet that we thought we were the only ones staying in the hotel. There weren't many tourists because we learned that the dates we were in Bohol was also the week of Sinulog festival in Cebu. It was an advantage to us since the tourist spots weren't crowded.

Red rice with kamote, baked spareribs and fresh lumpia for me.

Red rice with kamote, honey glazed chicken and garden salad for the hubby.

This was the best for me. The ingredients of their Halo-Halo were real fresh fruits topped with their famous homemade ice cream, honey and ube baquillos.

Can't get enough of the ice cream even if I'm coughing my lungs out. This one's mango ice cream in their cassava cone.

Bohol is a perfect place for honeymoon

My favorite part of the trip? All of it. Because I was spending precious time with my husband. It was hard going through the tour feeling under the weather but I'm glad I still did. And I'm happy we both had this time away on our own to relax and talk about the things we wanted to do in the future. As for Bohol, this is one of the cleanest provinces I've been too. Their rivers, lakes or seas are bluish green in color, very far from what I am used to seeing in Manila. I wish it were the same here. If we are going to come back, I promised myself that I wouldn't be sick and we'll definitely try island hopping on their beaches.
